start seeking spiritual growth in as many ways as we can. We want to fellowship
with others that think and act the way we do. When it comes to spiritual things, we
want the truth and nothing but the truth so that we can be a testimony to others.
With all the religions that are out there, how do you know which one is true to
God's word? What about denominations? There are Catholics, Buddhism, Christians, Muslims, Methodist, Baptist, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc. Then there
is the Holy Quran and the Book of Mormon that claim they contain the true
words of God.
Two individuals can sit down, read the same scripture, and get two different interpretations as to what God was saying. You see, it is all about what a
person believes. When a person thinks a certain way, they do not think that
they are wrong because of what they believe.
First of all, Jesus did not preach religion or denominations at all. Jesus not only broke bread with believers, He also broke bread with sinners. Jesus did not care if you were a Jew or a Gentile. Jesus treated everyone the same. No matter who you were, Jesus wanted you to know God's word. The only thing that Jesus preached was the Word of God. God's word should be enough.
People have gotten so lazy, from watching too much television, to where they
would rather hear what someone thinks God's word says than to read God's
word for themselves. We need to use our own brains and determine for
ourselves what we believe.
We need to read, research and ask questions. Just because your family
practices a certain religion or denomination from generation to generation
does not mean you should not ask questions. If you do not understand or
you want to know why certain things are done, you have a right to ask
Some people only practice half of a religion . They practice what they
believe in and leave out what they do not believe in. Why practice a
religion or denomination that you do not totally agree with? Why not
believe in something that you can put your whole heart into?
The bottom line is, do not compromise when it comes to religion or denominations that you feel you cannot put your whole heart into, because in the end you will always feel like you are searching for spiritual edification without ever finding it. Religions and denominations will always be pointing the finger at each other as to which one is right and which one is wrong.
You do not have to belong to a certain denomination or practice a
certain religion to love the Lord thy God with all thine heart (Deut 6:5).
Choose to believe in God and not in any man.
