all dirt that we accumulate on our bodies throughout the day. Sometimes
we are amazed at just how much dirt was on us. We can tell by how much
dirt goes down the drain after our bath.
So, we brush our teeth, wash our face and our bodies on a regular basis. Whenever we don't clean ourselves, we can feel bad, dirty or itch. The bath
can be so soothing and relaxing. After cleaning ourselves we feel good and comfortable. It is such common practice to cleanse ourselves on the outside,
but how many of us cleanse ourselves on the inside on a daily basis (Matthew 23:26)? Cleaning ourselves on the inside is not a commonly taught practice.
We can be clean on the outside, but still have unforgiveness, low self esteem, negative thoughts, and negative self talk or more inside of us. The way we feel throughout the day is an indication of us being clean, dingy, or dirty on the inside.
If we would just check in periodically with how we feel throughout the day we
will know our level of cleanliness inside of us. Taking a bath on the inside
is about taking the time to change what is keeping us in a negative state of
mind. That could mean changing thought patterns that we are used to, or
making a choice to change the way we see or react to situations or people.
We think that people or situations make us feel a certain way, but that's not
true. That person or situation is not inside of you making you feel a certain
way. Nothing is making you feel the way you feel, it is you and only you
that chooses how you feel in those moments. If someone does something
that you don't like, you can choose to be mad or not be mad, but you are
indeed making a choice. They are not making the choice for you.
Deep down we all know what we need to work on. Some of us choose to
stay the same because it's the easiest thing to do. The best athletes never
get to where they are by just sitting around not practicing. If you are used to
being a certain way for the majority of your life, it is way harder for you to
change, but just know that your life is a direct reflection of what is going
on inside of you.
