one day? We need words to speak, to learn, to teach, and to communicate
with each other. Imagine what the world would be like if words did not
exist. How would our world continue to function the way that it has
without words as our source of communication? Does anyone really pay
much attention to the words that come out of their mouths these days?
The words that we speak have more of an impact on our lives, as well
as others, more than we think they do. In the beginning, whatever God
spoke, it was so. Genesis 1:26,27 explains to us that God created us
in his own image, both male and female, and he gave us dominion over
all the earth. So since God created us in his own image, that means
that our words have power also.
With our own words, we can create a positive atmosphere around us or
we can create a negative atmosphere around us. Sometimes when we feel
like we are having a bad day, it could be the negative words that are
spoken from us that causes more bad things to continue to happen
throughout the day. As soon as one thing goes wrong the first thing
we say is "this is going to be a bad day". By speaking it, you have
just created it (a bad day).
What about sickness? There may be times when you really do feel sick
because of a cold or a virus. Have you ever counted how many times
during your sickness that you kept saying that you didn't feel good
or that you were sick? Every time you spoke those words you suffered
a little longer or you wondered why you just couldn't get rid of that
cold, cough, or virus. When you kept saying it you kept confirming it.
What about the things that we wish or hope for against others? When we
have been hurt by someone, we say hurtful things without really thinking
about what we are saying. Although quite a few of us have probably never
actually experienced having our hurtful wishes come true, some of us have.
Especially the wishes that you have wished that someone would die or be
hurt. Those are very mean things to say, but they are said out of anger.
Sometimes we say things to ourselves that just makes things worse. The more
things you say after the word never probably will be exactly as you say
(never). Here are some examples: I am never going to lose weight, I am never
going to get a car, I am never going to have a house, I am never going to find
a job, I am never going to find someone to love me for me. Stop saying never!
The longer you say something the more you start to believe it. The more you
start to believe it, the more you start to do less to achieve it.
When we are experiencing strong emotions we really need to watch what we say.
Words spoken out of a strong emotions (anger, lust, depression, jealously,)
can cause words to become weapons because that emotion is so strong at that
particular moment. People have gone to jail behind saying words out of strong
emotions. When you are angry, if you say the words "I'm going to kill you",
what is the first thing you try to do after speaking those words? You try to
do exactly what you just said. Although your words were intended for someone
else, it can have an influence on you as well.
A baby cannot speak or understand words until they reach a certain age,
but babies understand the emotions that are attached to words. If you say
the words "go to sleep", a baby will either go to sleep or start crying.
It all depends on the emotions that are attached to your words. If you are
tired and frustrated, a baby can feel that through your words. If you are
content and relaxed a baby can feel that through your words and start to
react accordingly. If you tell someone the look nice, they will feel good
and may even smile, but if you tell someone that they look bad, they will
feel bad.
So, let's not forget that Words give us the Opportunity to Reveal our
Dominion Status over all the earth that was given to us by God himself.
With that said, we all have got to start paying more attention to the words
that come out of our mouths so that more positivity can be in existence
than negativity in our lives and here on earth.
