From the time we enter high school, there are thoughts embedded in our
heads of what we need to do to secure a prosperous and happy future
for ourselves. All throughout life, those thoughts keep playing over and over
in our heads. The steps are supposed to be to go to college,  get a good
paying job, get a nice car, fall in love, get married, buy a house, have children,
and live happily ever after.  Supposedly these steps will put you on the right
path to being happy.

The world surrounds us with images of what life is supposed to be like.
How many of us have actually taken the time to figure out what would make
us happy in life?  Some of us are so stressed out trying to create such a
perfect life. We work more than one job, take out loans, and max out credit
cards just to keep up with the world's image of the perfect life.

The world sets standards and because so many of us conform to
those standards it becomes known as normal.  As with so many
things in life, what seems normal to one person may not seem normal
to another. It seems like not many want to steer away from the ways of
this world for fear of being judged.

Those that choose to be single are nagged about getting married. Those
that are married are nagged about having children. So, some of us give up
our happiness of being single just to get married or we have children when
we are not ready. In the end we find ourselves unhappy or full of regret. Don't
let people talk you into doing things that you know in your heart you are not
ready to do.

We have teenagers that want to kill themselves because they do not look
like the models they see in magazines. There are families that are facing
foreclosure. They are trying to do everything that they can to keep their
home.  Sometimes you have to just let material things go. Being without
a house does not mean you are not a normal family. Having each other
and your health is more important. There is nothing wrong with starting
over. No one likes having to start over in life, but many have done it and
survived it.

It doesn't matter, if you went to college, the job you have, the money you make,
the car you drive, the place where you live, not being married, being single, or
not having children. Not having these things doesn't make you any less of a
man or woman.  Who you are inside is the best representation of you. If you
are happy with the way things are in your life, then that's all that matters.
If you decide to change anything let it be because you want to.
