to the life that we live. There is nothing like being in a place where you feel
you belong. When it seems like everything else is going crazy that is the place where you can be to get inner peace and strength.
Being faithful to a place of worship is not only good for the longevity of that
place of worship, but also for each and every person in that place to continue
to receive what they need spiritually. Without the congregation, there would
be no place of worship.
It is good to have leadership that sets the example of how to truly live for God.
It makes you feel proud to tell others about the leadership at your place of
worship, because you want them to grow in the things of God as you have.
When does the way you feel about them turn into idol worship?
When you are inviting others to fellowship with you at your place of worship,
do you glorify your leadership? or do you glorify how God moves at every
service? Some put much emphasis on the leadership instead of how
God moved during the services (1 Corinthians 3).
God can only move in a place of worship if the people in leadership positions allow Him to. Yes God is God and He can do whatever He wants regardless
of what we do, but the problem is we put God on time limits. We set our
services for a certain time to end. If the preacher starts to run out of time he
either will not finish all of his message or will hurry through it.
We have to make sure that we are not choosing to worship in a certain place because of the popularity of a minister rather than the movement of God in
every service. There are people who say they are going to see a certain
minister's church instead of saying the name of the church. They will
say "I'm going to T.D. Jakes church" instead of The Potter's House.
That's idol worship. You are no longer focused on the movement of God in that place, but on the individual. People go out and buy every book that certain minister's put out even if some of them are mainly self help books instead of books that help you learn how to be a better person for God not just for yourself.
It's not just people in the church that are idolized, it's also celebrities. People
will get together and throw a party just to watch celebrities or sports on
television and then can barely get up the next morning. We want God to bless
us or help so much why don't we throw a party for God. Maybe if we celebrated
Him more we would be where we really want to be in our lives. It's hard for God
to even get a thank you from some of us anymore.
So let's pay more attention to who we shout, cry over, and praise. God
deserves as much attention as we give to the people and things of this
world. Every one of us on this earth, eat, drink, and breath the same way.
It's okay to admire someone, but we have got to know when we are taking
it too far. When we take our admiration of someone too far, it consumes so
much of us to where there is barely any room for God.
