our parents or past experiences in our lives. We can think something
so much that it can become a belief. When we believe something, it
is usually accompanied with a deep feeling. That deep feeling comes
from our heart.
If you think about any belief you have, when you concentrate on how
your body responds, you usually feel that feeling in the area of your
body where your heart is. When you feel joy, anger, sadness, fear,
happiness, or content, you don't feel it in your legs, arms, or feet,
you feel it in the area where your heart is.
As children, if we keep having the same thoughts, hearing the same
words, and having the same emotions, a belief is formed. As an adult,
if we keep having the same thoughts, saying the same words, and
having the same emotions, a belief is formed. We believe with our
Our heart is what keeps us alive. God knows how powerful our
hearts are. That's why God asked us to love Him with all our
hearts (Deuteronomy 6:5). We wonder why our lives are the way
they are and why certain things keep happening to us. We have
to remember what God did. "So God created man in his own
image, in the image of God created he him; male and female
created he them" (Genesis 1:27).
God is a creator. So when He made us a copy of himself, that
means that we are creators of our own lives. The beliefs that we
carry inside of us are a direct reflection of what we experience
in our lives (Proverbs 4:23). If we believe that the opposite sex is
always up to no good, then the opposite sex that is up to no good
will keep coming into our lives.
If we believe we never have enough money, things will keep happening
that will cause us not to have enough money. If we believe we can't trust
anyone anymore, then people that can't be trusted will continue to enter
our lives. What you believe, you bring into your life, because God created
us in his image, so we are creators also.
The words we say and the emotions we experience are just fuel for the
beliefs we have. Most of the time the beliefs we have aren't even the truth.
We just think they are the truth because they keep happening, but what we
aren't realizing is that we ourselves keep making it happen over and over
because we think that the experiences we have is proof that our beliefs
are the truth.
The hardest thing to do is to look at ourselves. If our lives keep repeating something we don't want, then we need to pay more attention to what we
believe about people, things, and situations. Anything that we keep saying
or thinking to ourselves becomes a belief. It is our beliefs that are bringing
us either what we want or what we don't want in our lives.
